Praised for her warm, luscious sound and captivating stage presence, Sasha Djihanian is definitely a young Soprano to watch. Canadian Opera Company (COC) Ensemble Studio graduate and Montreal native, Sasha was the winner of the First Annual COC Ensemble Studio Competition.
Recently, with the COC, she appeared as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Fresquita in Carmen, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Pedro in Don Quichotte, Fiordiligi in the Ensemble performance of Così fan tutte, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor, and she stepped in as Annio in La clemenza di Tito.
She was a prizewinner at the Jeunes Embassadeurs Lyriques, a national finalist in the 2011 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and represented Canada at the 2011 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Recent credits include Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro for Opera Lyra, Nannetta in Falstaff for Opera Hamilton, and Micaëla in Carmen Teatro Petruzzelli and Castleton Festival conducted by the late Lorin Maazel, Fiordiligi with Opéra de Reims and Massy, Nannetta in Falstaff with Manitoba Opera, a recital at the Muskoka Opera Festival, and Frasquita in Carmen with the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy.
Sasha received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Montreal Music Conservatory in Montreal Canada, where she recently completed her Masters in Voice degree. She was a young artist at the Chautauqua Summer Music Festival, and has won prizes in numerous competitions, including 1st prize in the Czech and Slovak International voice Competition in 2015, 1st prize in the Canadian Opera Company Competition in 2011, and was a Semi-Finalist in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in 2011.
